Reggie Butler Will Turn Up the Heat for the UNLV Mountain West Conference Opener Against Air Force
LONG BEACH (Sep. 17, 2004) – Just four days after returning from the deep south of Knoxville, Tennessee, the UNLV Rebels went off to face another major opponent, this time in the Midwest. The dominant UNLV Rebel linebacker corps, featuring senior outside linebacker #32 Reggie Butler, made a consecutive trip to Madison, Wisconsin last Saturday in the hope of finishing the 2004 preseason with an away victory similar to their 2003 win. In his second season of cross-country travel to meet the University of Wisconsin, Reggie Butler proved that he would again perform well in front of a record crowd at the #22 ranked Badgers stadium. He sparked up the game during the first quarter with a forced fumble reminiscent of the performance he and the Rebel linebacker corpsmen rendered there a year ago. To compliment his early quarterback sack, Reggie Butler’s personal game included a total of 7 tackles for the day. But the revenge-smitten Badgers refused to accept another loss, and instead, the Rebels went down 18-3. The 2004 Mountain West Conference opens this Saturday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time, at beautiful Sam Boyd Stadium when UNLV hosts the visiting Air Force squad.
