Reggie Butler Launches Web Site - Fans Nationwide can View the UNLV Linebacker as Anticipation for the 2004 MWC Football Season Increases
LOS ANGELES (Aug. 23, 2004) – Senior outside linebacker Reggie Butler performed each weekend during the 2003 college football season as a starter with Coach John Robinson’s ominous linebacker corps. Butler will begin another season in the familiar #32 jersey as the Mountain West Conference UNLV Rebels open the 2004 season on Sunday, September 5 at Tennessee. Fans everywhere can now view the latest information on their favorite UNLV linebacker by logging on to www.reggiebutler.com. The former Ivy Leaguer transferred in and made an immediate impact in 2003, and is slated to once again start at one outside linebacker position for the Rebel Red in 2004.  The team travels to Knoxville with aspirations of receiving a victory on the road against the Tennessee Volunteers as the nation watches on ESPN2 at 5:00pm PDT. UNLV Head Coach JOHN ROBINSON SAYS: "Reggie Butler was away from football and last year [2003] got back into the swing, so we expect a lot of improvement as a senior. He is also one of the best students at this university -- a person with great character that brings all kinds of intangibles." Reggie Butler possesses the two components that are a coach’s dream combination – brain and brawn. The outside linebacker traveled to Orlando in May to participate in the annual NCAA Leadership Conference as one of 321 NCAA student-athletes who were tabbed as current or future leaders on their college campuses.  He is only the second UNLV representative to make the prestigious trip, following former Rebel offensive lineman Tony Terrell.  Selection criteria for the conference included the student-athletes' demonstrated ability and strong desire to be a leader and good academic standing.  Reggie Butler is certainly all that!
